SEN CAL KAPIMI EPISODE 34 SUMMARY
Episode 33 ended with a kiss, an obvious ploy to make fans and Eda think that Serkan’s memory had been restored, but, alas, the writers are playing with the audience and Eda. Serkan says he doesn’t remember and he receives a slap from Eda. I wish I could slap the writers.
Eda is incensed that he has been so forward in public just because he wanted to kiss her, and as she berates him, her voice gets louder and louder. A brief flashback shows a bitter Ceren telling Serkan that Eda and Deniz are playing a trick on him to separate him from Selin so that Eda can get him back. Ceren says that Eda will do anything to get her way, no matter whom she hurts. As Eda stalks out of the restaurant, Serkan follows; at the door both of their cell phones ring. The calls are from Aydan and Ayfer calling from the police station. In a parked car on the street, Selin, who has followed Serkan to the restaurant, watches as Eda and Serkan exit, get in their respective cars and leave.
At the police station, Aydan and Ayfer complain that they should not be there because they haven’t done anything. They haven’t seen Alexander and have no idea where he might be. The policeman says they deny having seen him but video evidence shows that they were at the restaurant the night he disappeared. Serkan and Eda arrive and demand to know what has happened, but both women assert their innocence. They are told to make an official statement and then they may leave. Somehow Melo and Engin appear at the police station, but who knows why. . .just so Serkan can explain to Engin that the Eda/Deniz romance-engagement-marriage is a hoax to make him jealous, and Melo can find out about the kiss, I guess. Serkan tells Engin that somehow he will make Eda confess; Eda tells Melo she’s tired of trying to make Serkan remember.
The scene shifts briefly to Alex looking at a video on his cell phone of Aydan and Ayfer leaving the restaurant hurriedly on that fateful night. He thinks it’s amusing and declares vengeance on the women, although I’m not sure why. He’s the one who has flirted and betrayed them.
Ceren called Ferit to meet for coffee so she could thank him for standing by her during her difficult days. Ferit is very patient and cordial with her, saying that if she really wanted to thank him, she would do something for herself. He tells her he sometimes uses a psychiatrist when he has problems and he offers to make an appointment for her the next morning. Ceren agrees.
At home, Eda has a bit of a meltdown about the kiss. She rejects Melo’s contention that Serkan is falling in love again because he arranged the special evening. Eda wants Serkan to suddenly remember everything that she remembers and become the Serkan she knows, and for the tenth time, she says she’s tired of trying to make him remember. Of course, this is an old refrain because Eda says it and then starts all over with the sassy arguments and “cute,” pugnacious looks in Serkan’s face. I’m tired of the haranguing she does with Serkan every minute they share the same space. . .mindless dialogue that makes her appear shrewish. Oh, well, she has Melo, the experienced “love doctor” who knows everything and shares her advice liberally.
The next morning at the office, Engin complains about Erdem’s NO LOVE signs, and Serkan says he doesn’t know why Engin lets him stay; he’s waiting for an explanation. Engin passes on an answer and says he has a great idea of how he and Serkan can force Eda and Deniz into a corner about their romance. He won’t give Serkan any details until he has the plan set up.
Eda sits by the Bosphorus while Selin meets with Deniz to discuss last night’s meeting between Eda and Serkan. Deniz tells Selin that she can’t change Serkan’s feelings. The only thing she can do is marry Serkan, but she doesn’t know how to insist that they get married. Deniz says she also has to somehow get Eda to the marriage table, by jealousy, I suppose. When Eda calls Deniz, he tells her that Selin came by for coffee and said she was going to choose her designer wedding dress at Serkan’s request. That is a surprise for Eda who suddenly loses her forlorn attitude and becomes invigorated for a new bout with Serkan.
When Eda arrives in the conference office, she is pretending to talk with Deniz on the phone using lots of endearments. Of course, she starts a cute little dialogue with Serkan about love in the office, but ends up a bit confused. Selin enters to receive biting little remarks from Eda, but when Selin tells Eda she doesn’t see a ring on her finger, Eda lies to say it’s being prepared, a rejoinder that Serkan thinks is funny because he knows it’s a lie. Serkan tells Eda she should get married as soon as possible and Eda agrees since Deniz “can’t go a day without seeing her.”
Ferit receives a call from Mr. Ates who says Art/Life has received the restoration job, he will come to the office to sign the papers, and he will have a special request at that time. Engin says this is a big project and they need to celebrate. Serkan tells Selin she needs to be in the meeting when Mr. Ates comes. Eda thinks everyone is making a bid deal over this project unnecessarily. Engin tells Serkan to come to his office to discuss the project. In his office, Engin shows Serkan the place he has chosen for the evening celebration that will corner Eda and Deniz and prove their romance is fake. Serkan calls Deniz to tell him to come to the office.
Aydan and Seyfi are at Ayfer’s house to talk about Alex. Both are afraid that Serkan and Eda will find out what happened. When the door bell rings, Seyfi goes to answer it and starts screaming. He tells the women that Alex came to the door, but when they look out, they see nothing.
When Ceren comes into the office late, Ferit asks her how she did in her therapy session with the psychiatrist, although he knows she didn’t go because the doctor’s secretary called him about her absence. Ceren lies and said all was well. Melo grabs Ceren and, thinking that Ceren cares, tells her about Serkan kissing Eda. Eda joins them and says Serkan is acting strangely. He keeps talking about love and the game of love. He keeps looking at her as though he wants to find out something. Ceren is nervous when Melo asks could he know about the game Eda is playing, but Eda says no, she doesn’t think so. Melo agrees since neither she nor Ceren has mentioned it. When Ceren and Eda go to get tea, Melo goes to Serkan and tells him that if he offends Eda, he will have to deal with her (Exactly WHAT does Melo think she can do?).
Ayden, Ayfer and Seyfi paste pictures of Alex around the neighborhood in hopes that someone has seen him. Alex, meanwhile, is collaborating with an accomplice named Metin whom he directs to call Aydan in a blackmailing scheme. Metin calls Aydan and tells her to take down the pictures, he knows everything she did, and she should go home and wait for his call. Aydan is speechless, but Alex is exultant, telling Metin he deserves an Oscar for his performance.
At the office Eda overhears Serkan on a telephone call about someone who will work on the project. At that moment Deniz comes in and declares that Serkan told him to come but he’s not sure why. Serkan says that he wants to use Deniz’s creativity in the restoration project, and Selin, who has just entered, says Deniz should accept. Eda tells Selin her comments aren’t necessary and a little verbal scuffle takes place between the women. Deniz accepts the offer and Engin says he has planned something for the evening to help them relieve stress.
Ferit tries to talk to Ceren about missing the psychiatrist appointment, but Ceren gets defensive and hostile. She says she’s fine, she doesn’t want him scolding her, and she resents him treating her like a child. In the office working, Eda accuses Serkan of looking at her, and when Selin comes in for the meeting about the project, Eda makes smart remarks about Selin having an x-ray for her headaches, calling her a liar. Mr. Ates comes to sign the documents for the restoration project. He tells the group that the project is extensive because he hopes the complex will become a fashion center to rival those of Paris and Milan. He says, further, that an Istanbul designer has prepared a fashion show to inaugurate one of the buildings and he wants Eda and her fiancé, Deniz, to model the final designs on the catwalk.
That evening, the office crew, plus Aydan and Ayfer, meets at a spa/gym to have stress relief therapy. They sit in a semi-circle and answer questions about people they truly love or feel close to. They are given sheets of paper to write their answers on. Some of the questions are: where they met that person for the first time, what is the person’s favorite color, what is the person’s favorite food, what is a favorite verse, etc. Eda and Deniz panic because they don’t know how to answer some of the questions. As it happens, they answer the questions correctly until the final question: What’s the biggest dream the two lovers have built for their future? Panic time. Melo goes down to the basement, finds the electrical box and turns off the lights when it’s time for the answers to be revealed. The evening is ended.
The next morning Erdem quizzes Melo about the lights going out. He obviously suspects her, but she puts him off. Serkan goes into Engin’s office and bemoans the fact that Eda and Deniz were tense, but the last question was never answered. He doesn’t know if Ceren told the truth. The test failed to prove Eda and Deniz’s lie. Ferit joins them to say that the fashion show for the evening at Mr. Ates’s building is getting underway and Eda is there rehearsing.
Later, Serkan goes to his office, followed by Eda who is in a good mood. She brings in the manila envelope that Melo left in her car (the one with the photographs of Selin kissing Deniz), draws a flower on it and then presents it to Serkan who doesn’t look at it. Serkan says that her bubbly mood will make him have a bad mood. He wishes he could put a wall between them. Eda says she enjoyed the fashion show rehearsal and meeting the designer who gave her a catalogue of wedding dresses and places for a honeymoon. The more she talks, the more annoyed Serkan becomes. She won’t shut up, so he finally says he’s leaving. Eda keeps aggravating him: where are you going, why are you leaving, what are you going to do. She asks him if he’s going boxing and he finally says yes. Oh, well, she decides she will follow him to the gym and box, too. Honestly, I don’t understand how Serkan can refrain from slapping her or saying something really rude because she’s annoying as hell. Eda is just too full of her cute self.
Going into Ceren’s office, Ferit overhears Ceren telling the psychiatrist’s secretary to cancel her as a patient; she tells Ferit she doesn’t want to talk to him anymore.
At Aydan’s house, Ayfer receives a picture of “dead” Alex wrapped in a blanket and then a call from Alex’s accomplice telling her he will text the amount of money he wants. Of course, she, Aydan and Seyfi get upset, and when the text comes, the amount is huge, far beyond what Ayfer could pay. The three go to Aydan’s bank and arrange for the money but it will take some time. Outside in a car, Alex and his friend watch as the three culprits exit the bank. Alex is impressed that the women could get that large amount of money. When the deal is done, Alex will let them know about the prank.
Ceren goes to Deniz’s shop and confesses that she told Serkan about the “love game.” Deniz gets upset and accuses her of trying to keep him away from Eda, but Ceren says she did it because Serkan kissed Eda, evidence that they are getting back together. She is justifying her betrayal by saying that she did the right thing to keep him from getting hurt, and she storms out. Deniz calls Eda but she doesn’t answer. He then calls Melo to find out where she is.
Ferit goes to Selin’s office and asks about the PR for the evening fashion show. He thinks she should write up the fact that Eda, an Art/Life partner, will be featured on the program, but Selin says she won’t do that. Selin then goes to Serkan’s office with documents for him to sign, but she finds the office empty. She notices the manila envelope and decides to open it. She finds the two pictures of herself kissing Deniz. Worried, she takes the envelope to Deniz’s shop. He gets upset when he sees them, and says Eda mustn’t see them. When Selin says she doesn’t know who took the pictures or who sent them, Deniz tells her it’s her fault and she’d better get rid of them.
Erdem follows Melo to a café where they see Engin talking with Ms. Hande, the lady that conducted the Stress-Free therapy session that ended in the blackout. Melo gets upset, thinking that Engin is cheating on Piril. When she gets back to the office, she’s determined to tell Piril, but her silly sign language only confuses Piril and she walks out. Later, Melo finds Piril in the restroom crying because someone sent her a text message saying that her husband was cheating on her.
At the gym Serkan gets rid of some of his tension before Eda joins him. He accuses her of following him, and questions the idea of her boxing. Eda speaks to the trainer to prove that she’s been at the gym before, and then she challenges Serkan to a practice. He holds the punch mitts while she throws some punches. She says if he could remember, he would know that she could box. He says if she was so in love with him for a year, why is she in such a hurry to marry Deniz? She starts pounding the mitts in anger, he pulls her close to stop her, she gets angry and jumps on his back and knocks him down. When he gets up, she starts pounding on him until she hits his head and knocks him down. She panics and then wakes him up to say, “I hate you, Serkan Bolat.” He asks if that’s what she really feels. She says yes. He asks her if she really loves Deniz and if she really wants to marry him, and she says yes. Before Serkan questions anything else, Deniz comes in and says he has missed being with Eda. Serkan says it’s interesting that they never answered the final question that night of what their dreams for the future were, but Eda says they have to leave.
Back at the office, Deniz tells Eda they have to keep up the game because Serkan is getting jealous, and once again, Eda says she’s TIRED. She says she wants to tell him she loves him, but Deniz tells her not to do that because Serkan will get really jealous tonight when he sees the two of them on the catwalk.
Serkan and Ferit talk when Serkan returns to the office. Ferit tells him that something is wrong with Ceren but she refuses help. He says Ceren has a mental problem that is affecting her interactions with people. Serkan remembers Ceren telling him about Eda and Deniz’s “love game” and asks Ferit if she needs help. Ferit tells him that he made an appointment with a psychiatrist for her but she wouldn’t go. Serkan asks Ferit if Ceren told him anything about Eda, but Ferit says no, she keeps everything inside and will not talk about herself or anyone. She needs to take medicine but she refuses. When Engin comes in, Serkan corners him in his office and says now he’s confused about Eda and the game. He says Ferit has told him that Ceren has mental problems, so he doesn’t know if what she told him is true or a figment of her imagination. Engin says there is one way to determine the truth; call the registrar’s office to see if there is a calendar date for the wedding on March 20th. Serkan makes the call and Deniz overhears him.
Everybody goes to the fashion show where reporters and photographers are waiting for guests to arrive. Apparently, Eda is now a celebrity because the reporter is announcing her participation in the show with her current lover. The Art/Life group is greeted by Ms. Sevrim the designer and Mr. Ates who is hopeful that the evening’s events will lead to a successful future for the fashion industry and his complex. He compliments Serkan and Eda for the success of the show in advance. Why?
Eda and Deniz go backstage to get ready, followed by Melo who has decided to interfere once again. She goes to Eda first and plies her with compliments, calling her the Queen, telling her to do her “Eda thing,” and feeding Eda’s ego until she has Eda smiling and calling Melo the best friend in the world. Then she goes to Deniz and tells him to pretend that he stumbled and hurt his leg, so he can’t do the fashion walk. Instead, Serkan will walk with Eda on the runway. After setting up Deniz’s injury story, Melo goes to Serkan and tells him he has to replace Deniz, an idea that Serkan refuses but one that is seconded by the designer and Mr. Ates.
Aydan, Ayfer and Seyfi wait in a park to meet Alex’s accomplice and give the money. They get a text to tell them to meet at a statue. When they arrive, they see Alex’s accomplice and give him the money. Just as they are asking about Alex’s body, a car comes up, Alex leans over from the driver’s seat and thanks the girls. His friend jumps in the car and they drive off.
Eda waits backstage in her low cut, high rise, thinly veiled dress. She says she’s nervous, but, naturally, Melo comes to tell her how beautiful she is and how she is a Queen. Melo also tells her she will have a new partner. Serkan walks in, and suddenly Eda is no longer nervous because she can now tease and insult Serkan at will. She asks him to help her with her dress, but there isn’t enough dress, a fact he tells her (I don’t think Eda’s dress, a strapless bathing suit with a net skirt, is very impressive to be the finale, but none of the other gowns are very attractive either). After the walk, when they get backstage, Eda gives Serkan a hug, a moment that Deniz and Selin witness. The designer and Mr. Ates come backstage to congratulate Eda and Serkan and invite them to the yacht for a celebration.
After a meal on the yacht and niceties exchanged, Eda leaves the table to get some air on the back deck. She is soon followed by Selin who has received the “kissing” photos on her cell phone with a message to part with Serkan in an amicable way; otherwise, she will see where her deception leads. Serkan also gets a call from the Registrar’s office confirming that Deniz and Eda have secured a wedding date on March 20th.
Eda has walked down to the lower back deck. She discovers her engagement ring necklace missing, and she walks back toward the upper deck where she finds it on the steps. She picks it up and turns back, looking at the necklace in her hand instead of where she’s walking. Her foot gets entangled in a rope, she trips and falls overboard. Selin, standing on the upper deck, notices that Eda is not in eyesight, but she doesn’t do or say anything. She sees the necklace on the deck where Eda dropped it.
Of course, we don’t know for sure, but Serkan will probably come looking for Eda, discover her missing and jump in to save her, ever the hero. Will the danger of losing Eda awaken Serkan’s memory?
