Rojda ( the name means sunrise in Kurdish) was born in Ankara, Turkey. Her heritage is Kurdish from the Diyarbakir Raman tribe, but she doesn’t speak Kurdish and has never really commented about her family history. Her elder sister is called Ruken. Sadly their father died of cancer when Rojda was just seven years old.

In 1988 she started to work for TRT on the Ankara Children’s hour radio show. Growing up she also worked on some children’s series and has a programme presenter. In 1997 she started to study Theatre at Hacettepe University. She graduated in 2001 and then went to work at the Trabzon State Theatre.

After her time at the theatre ended she started to appear onscreen. Her first role as an adult was in 2002 in the film Gonderilmemis Mektuplar. Between 2003 and 2013 she appeared in 12 TV series all of which she took the lead role in apart from one. Her more recent work has included Yedikule Hayat Yokusu ( 2014 ) Acil Ask Araniyor ( 2015 ), Kordugum ( 2015 ) and Adi Efsane ( 2017 )

Her new role which is to commence imminently is in the series Carpisma as the character Berna. The new series from Ay Yapim has a great cast including Kivanc Tatlitug and Elcin Sangu. It is hoped that it will be a big success.

In 2009 Rojda opened a chocolate store with her sister in Nisantasi. In commenting about herself she says that she is punctual and very disciplined. She likes writing poetry, sport, going to concerts and sleeping. She also has a fear of heights and doesn’t like enclosed spaces.
