Nazan was born in Manisa. She completed her primary and high school education there. She then attended Dokuz Eylul University. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts acting department in 1991. Then she did a Masters degree in Cinema and Television at Beykent University.

After leaving university she did some TV work, but then between 1996 and 2004 she acted and also directed at Diyarbakir Theatre. In 2004 she was appointed to the Bursa State Theatre, and also acted in other cities like Istanbul.

Nazan has worked in numerous stage plays and movies including Kardesim Benim (2016) and Delibal (2015). Her work in TV series is also vast. Her first series was in 1993 in Super Baba. Some of her other notable series have included, Cennetin Cocuklari (2008), Ask ve Ceza (2010) Analar be Anneler (2015) and she has just finished the very popular series Fazilet Hanim ve Kizlari (2017).

Her newest role will be in a police series entitled Halka which will air in 2019. She will be one of a great cast which includes Hande Ercel, Kaan Yildirim, and Serkan Cayoglu. It is to start late in the season so I hope that the series gets a fair chance from the Turkish viewers.

In 2005 she married a fellow actor Ercan Kesal who currently plays the role of Idris Baba in the hit series Cukur. They have one son named Poyraz. Away from her work, Nazan is very much a wife and mother. She likes to spend time cooking and looking after her family, where Ercan helps out too. If not an actress she would have liked to become an Archaeologist. While shooting in the older parts of Istanbul she thinks about the history of the area too. Nazan wishes that she had learnt a foreign language as she would then have been able to act in a foreign movie.

Nazan is active on social media and has 197k Instagram followers. I hope that Halka is successful. Coming out of a big series such as Fazilet is hard to not by stereotyped but Hazan is a very talented lady so to see her in a new different role will be interesting.
