KURULUS OSMAN EPISODE 54 SUMMARY
Dundar Bey has been caught. He has betrayed his people and lied to his family. He has been responsible for the deaths of Bayhoca and Abdurrahman Ghazi. He has brought shame upon his father Suleyman Shah.
Osman as he promised drags him through the nomad in front of the tribe. He is spat upon as a traitor by his own people.
Osman makes him sit before him and answer to his charges. Dunder Bey tells everyone that he only wanted the best for the Kais. His goal was to kill Osman and lead the Kais himself. He owns up to giving vital information to the infidel enemy, Aya Nickola, enabling him to ambush Osman and his Alps at every turn and siding with the Mongol, Togay.
Petros and Simon are also made to prostrate themselves in front of Osman. They are taken to the jail to be kept for interrogation by Osman.
Osman at one time had wrapped his bow string around Dundar Bey’s neck for betraying his people. He told Dundar Bey at the time that if he found out that he ever betrayed him again that he would kill him with the very same bow.
Osman tells him that he has betrayed his Bey, his people, his nation and his religion. All charges are punishable by death. He tells Dundar Bey to say his final prayers and then he will kill him.
The task of killing Dundar Bey is very hurtful to Osman. He has grown up loving and respecting him as his father’s brother. He will now be his executioner.
Once again Dundar Bey is paraded through the nomad and taken to the jail until his execution. Aygul makes her way to the tent to speak with her father for the last time. She blames him for the death of her brother. She blames him for taking Hazal Hatun as his wife after she murdered her mother. She blames him for marrying her to Alisar Bey while all the time he professed to love them.
As tradition dictates, Dundar Bey should be executed by strangulation from a bow.
Osman orders Bala to send Hazel Hatun back to her brother’s nomad in disgrace.
Meanwhile, at the Mongol camp Togay receives new orders from Geyhatu. He is to collect taxes to replenish their stock of gold coins and to kill Osman and Aya Nickolaat the same time.
The time for Dundar Bey’s execution has arrived. He is dressed in black robes for the event. As Dundar Bey walks in silence with only the Alps as the witnesses.
Osman tells him that he has been a dark stain on his people and his grandfather and father would be ashamed of him. He has turned out to be a pain in their hearts that even his death will not be able to erase.
Dundar Bey asked for one last wish before he dies and that is to be killed by Osman. Dundar also tells Osman that on his last visit to Inegol Castle he saw a map of the underground tunnels of Sogut and that Aya Nickola and Kalonos are planning to raid Sogut.
Osman grants Dundar Bey his last wish. Dundar Bey is allowed to turn his back and walk away from Osman. Osman loads his bow with the arrow that killed Bayhoca.
He takes careful aim and sends the arrow deep into Dundar Bey’s body and takes his life on the spot.
Inside his tent Osman hangs up his bow and weeps at what he has done.
Osman later learns from a tortured Petros that there are three tunnels running under Sogut. He makes Petros and Simon show him the tunnels. He warns Petros and Simon that for them to stay alive they have to find out when the attack on Sogut will happen.
Simon brings him the news that the attack is scheduled for the next day and they have not much time to prepare. Aya Nickola’s soldiers will enter the tunnels and raid Sogut from the inside.
Osman knows that Umur Bey is planning on taking a new caravan of trading goods into Inegol Castle. He tells Malhun Hatun that she and her father can make up for all their mistakes by helping him. He asks her to lead the caravan into Inegol Castle and to bring back gunpowder for him. He invites her to join him in a holy war against the infidels.
The next day, true to her word, Malhun Hatun enters Inegol Castle and steals the gunpowder and re-establishes Osman’s trust in her.
Osman plan is to enter the tunnels and plant barrels of gunpowder in each tunnel with the ultimate goal of trapping Aya Nickola’s soldiers are they enter to raid Sogut from the underground.
Togay watches from a distance as the taxes which are meant for the Tekfurs gets closer. He attacks the infidels and steals the taxes.
Aya Nickola and Kalonos begin their march on Sogut.
At the same time the soldiers begin their entry into the Sogut tunnels. When the time is right the wicks are lit by Savci, Cerkutay and Goktug. The fuses on the three barrels begin to burn down.
Meanwhile, Osman leads his Alps against Aya Nickola and his troops out on the field.
