KURULUS OSMAN EPISODE 39 SUMMARY

Aya Nickola is angry. He has just learnt that Osman and Taylak Arsland had escaped the trap that Geyhatu had left for them. He felt sure that Osman would be dead. Aya Nickola has sent poison via Targun to kill all the Beys at the Toy Council meeting.

The new leader of the Kais is normally announced by Ertugrul before he dies at aToy Council meeting. Ertugrul has recovered sufficiently from an attack of his incurable disease. He is now back on his throne as the greatest Bey of all Bey’s. He addresses the Toy Council and his sons and is expected to declare who his successor will be.

Abdurrahman Gazi has kept Ertugrul up to date as to what has been happening since his illness. He does not allow Savci to kiss his hand which is a sign that he is not pleased about him trying to overtake the leadership.

Ertugrul tells his family that the traditions cannot be ignored. He also tells them that the next Bey of the Kais has to be anointed by God and God chooses who this will be.

Meanwhile, Osman meets with Targun and she shows him the poison that Aya Nickola has given her to use on the Beys. She tells him that Aya Nickola wants to see all the Beys dead. Osman gives her instructions of what he wants her to do and tell Aya Nickola. Targun leaves the nomad to go to meet with Aya Nickola.

Ertugrul discusses Geyhatu with Osman. He asks him how can he know that he can now trust Taylak Arsland. Osman tells his father of his dream and how he works toward making that dream come true. Ertugrul demands that his sons unite and not be separated and to follow the orders of the new Bey that he will be selecting.

They next discuss Aya Nickola and what the Kais are going to do about him. All his sons want to lay siege to Inegol Castle but Osman believes that too many Turkish lives will be lost if they attack the castle. He tells his father that they should take down Aya Nickola’s soldiers first as he has many. Osman explains that his plans are already under way and Targun has been sent to meet with Aya Nickola to persuade him to bring her father to a location in the forest where Osman will be waiting for him. Ertugrul agrees that Osman’s plan is a good one and much better than attacking the castle and losing lives.

Savci tells his wife Lena that her son Beyhoca will arrive soon. Earlier in the seres Flatius and Lena made reference to a son. Flatius at one time loved Lena.

Targun declares to herself that she has lost her heart to Osman.

Osman on the other hand loves his beloved Bala. Tonight he holds her in his arms and caresses her as he combs her long beautiful hair. Bala’s greatest hope is to give Osman a child and she still waits for this blessing.

Ertugrul spends a night in prayer for his nomad and his sons. He prays that he makes the right decision for the next Bey. He blesses Bamsi Bey and Abdurrahman Gazi. He has prepared his soul to meet with God. He looks forward to being with his beloved Halime once again.

In the morning the waring tribe prepares to leave the nomad. Osman is brought word that Ertugrul does not want him to go with the war party to attack Aya Nickola. Osman finds this request strange as this is his plan. There is no arguing with an order given by Ertugrul Gazi. Ertugrul has requested that his son join him at the grave of his mother Halime.

Osman later finds his father sitting beside the grave of Halime. Ertugrul dreams of walking in the gardens of heaven with her once again. He knows that his time on this earth is nearly over and it will not be long before he joins her. He sees his courageous son riding towards him. He tells Halime that he knows that their youngest son is angry with him for stopping him going to war with Aya Nickola but he wanted this time to be a special time and he has something that he wants to tell him.

As they sit next to Halime’s grave, Ertugrul tells his son that war never stops. Even if Aya Nickola is defeated somebody else will come and take his place. He lets him know that he loves all three of his sons but he believes that Osman will be a great warrior, even greater than his father.

Ertugrul tells his son that the fire of a holy war cannot ever be put out. He asks Osman to promise him he will keep the fire burning. Osman promises his father that the Turkish traditions will never die and a new State will grow from it. Ertugrul asks that God blesses him and the name of Osman to be spread all over the world.

Later that day Ertugrul meets with his friend and great leader of all the Turks. He tells the leader that he has chosen Osman as his successor as he knows he will carry his sword and flag and will rule the Kais with justice. He explains that Osman has dreams of creating a State for all the Turkish people and he has given him his blessing as he knows his death is imminent.

Meanwhile Aya Nickola has Targun’s father tied to a tree at the location given to him by Targun. He expects the Turks to be coming soon and he is ready for them.

A large group of Turks led by Savci and Gunduz arrive at the location. Bamsi Bey leads Osman’s Alps for the day. The battle begins and both sides show no mercy. Bamsi Bey takes on Aya Nickola and wounds him but is unable to capture him. He escapes. Targun manages to rescue her father and saves his life and Savci takes on Flatius. He wounds him but does not kill him.

Aya Nickola escapes to a cave and has his wounds tended by Helen. He knows he should be at the Castle but he is too weak to get up and go.

Osman on the other hand is bursting with pride after his father tells him that he has chosen him to be the next Bey of the Kais. He is filled with excitement of being able to put into action his dreams of a Turkish State. He rides into the hills on his horse feeling spirited on his way.

Meanwhile Flatius awaits punishment and is being held in a prison tent in the nomad. He tells Savci that Ertugrul killed his father and he wants revenge for his death. He also tells him that Lena is his wife and he is going to take her away from him. Savci decides that Flatius will be hung.

Ertugrul knows that his time is getting closer for him to travel to paradise. He calls for one of the biggest Toy Council meetings ever held in the nomad.

Ertugrul takes his place as head of the Toy Council meeting. He blesses every one there. He recalls their victories over the years. He tells them he is proud of them.

Ertugrul pauses with a bout of tiredness. As you watch him talking to the Beys you can see that he is becoming weaker. He gives them his last words. He agrees to a State of honour and pride. A State for all Turks who will be protected. This means keeping traditions alive. He wants them to break the chains of captivity.

Ertugrul begins to announce his successor. He becomes suddenly frail and cannot remain standing. He tells them he has chosen the next Bey and he is the one that has carried them from one victory to another. He cannot get his last words out to tell them that his choice is Osman. He looks directly at Osman but collapses before he can finish his sentence. Ertugrul Gazi dies on the spot.

Grieving for Ertugrul begins immediately. It is hard for Ertugrul’s sons to believe that their great waring father has died. His death is shared with the rest of the tribe by prayer . The tribe gather in front of his tent as the word travels fast throughout the nomad.

Flatius in his prison tent hears the proclamation and the whaling of grief in the nomad. Flatius was the one who wanted to kill Ertugrul for revenge for his father but now that has been taken away from him. He swears that he will take his revenge out on his bloodline.

Ertugrul’s body lies in state while his sons and friends gather around him. They talk of his victories and his generous nature and his bad temper. They pray through the night over his body.

In the morning the sons all say their farewell to their father.

A slow and respectful drum beat is heard throughout the nomad as the body of Ertugrul Gazi is led out of his tent by his sons and Bamsi Bey. The greatest Bey of all time is paraded through the nomad on his way to his resting place beside Halime.
