KURULUS OSMAN EPISODE 23 SUMMARY
After leaving his newly married wife, Osman rides to join his Alps to do battle in the Sogut forest.
Balgay has joined Osman in attacking Alisar Bey. Kongar has joined Balgay and acts as Osman’s spy within his camp.
Osman agrees to help Balgay take on Geyhatu knowing Balgay cannot be trusted to keep his word. Balgay’s goal is to sit on the throne in Konya after he has done away with Osman and Geyhatu.
Osman has promised all turks a new free state where they can live in peace but before that happens he has to rid Sogut of the scourge of the mongols and their partner Alisar Bey. Osman’s fight has only just begun. Not only has his dream been blessed by God but he now has the a living dream in Bala Hatun his new wife.
Bala leaves her father and brings her dowry to her husband’s home and to share his dream of freedom for their people. Her father has told her that it will not be an easy journey for both of them.
Zohre Hatun and Aygul wait inside Alisar’s mansion hoping for news that Osman is dead. Aygul’s bitterness increases towards Osman when she hears he is married.
Aygul married Alisar Bey for revenge believing, as her mother and father do, that Osman killed her brother and has robbed her father of the title of leader of the Kais. Aygul still has to find out that she unknowingly married her brother’s killer.
The first attack is by Balgay who is led into a trap and he falls prey to Dundar Bey’s hands. He is rescued by Kongar and Cerkutay and makes his escape.
The next Kai attack is at Alisar’s Bey’s mansion. This attack is led by Bamsi Bey and Gunduz and they are victorious.
Aygul puts up a physical assault on the Kais in trying to defend the her mansion but in the end Aygul, Zohre Hatun and Burcu are forced to make an escape running into the forest for safety with Selcan Hatun and Bala hot on their tracks.
Gunduz and Bamsi Bey stand proudly while the Kai flag is flown high above the mansion walls.
Meanwhile, Osman attacks Alisar Bey’s camp. Osman thinks he has outsmarted Alisar but finds Alisar Bey was waiting for him. Vicious fighting ensues with both sides playing tricks on each other. In the end Alisar Bey escapes into the forest with Osman after him.
Dundar Bey and Bahadir are captured by Osman’s Alps. The Alps do not raise their swords against Dundar but rather tell him they are bringing him and Bahadir to Osman.
Dundar Bey’s son Bahadir, tells his father that they may be wrong about Osman and maybe he did not kill his brother. Dundar Bey tells his son that if that is the case then he will take his revenge from Alisar Bey. Deep down Dundar Bey hopes his son is not right as his embarrassment would be immense and his guilt would be hard to bare.
In the forest Osman catches up with Alisar Bey. He is a formidable enemy. He tries throwing a potent liquid in Osman’s eyes to blind him and making it easier for him to defeat Osman. He also enlists Boke to try and kill Osman but Osman is too strong and skilful and takes care of both of them easily. He does not kill Alisar Bey but rather beats him. Osman has yet to make Alisar own up to killing Batur Bey and to get his Uncle to see that he was wrong in blaming him.
Deep in the forest Selcan Hatun and Bala continue searching for Aygul and Zohre Hatun. Aygul wanders through the forest looking for revenge. She comes across Bala and is incensed by the downfall of her mansion. She shoots Gonca with an arrow and attacks Bala.
After Alisar Bey’s defeat Osman ties him up ready for interrogation. His Alps have brought Dundar Bey within hearing distance of their conversation and hide him in the bush. It is Osman’s goal to get Alisar Bey to confess to Batur Bey’s murder and for Dundar Bey to hear this from his lips.
Alisar Bey warns Osman to be prepared for Geyhatu’s anger when he hears what he has done. Osman slaps him for his cheek.
He tries to lure Alisar Bey into admitting he killed Batur Bey. Eventually Alisar breaks his silence telling Osman that Dundar Bey was a fool and was easily led to betray his own tribe. Not long after this comment Alisar Bey boasts to Osman about killing Dundar Bey’s son.
Throughout the interrogation Dundar Bey and Bahadir watch and listen from behind the bush. Dundar Bey hears the truth and he is filled with anger, shame and pain knowing that Alisar Bey had fooled him. His sobs of heartbreak and embarrassment is heard by all.
Dundar asks Osman to forgive him and to end his life. He does not want to live with his shame. Osman tells Dundar Bey that the decision whether he lives or dies is up to his father Ertugrul Bey.
Meanwhile, Selcan Hatun and Bala escort Aygul back to the Kai nomad. It is not long before Zohre Hatun with sword in her hand attacks the group. As a result of the attack Burcu is critically injured. They are all taken to the Kai nomad to await Osman.
Zohre Hatun is filled with rage and now finds herself and her daughter out on their own. Zohre’s ambition was to push her husband to be the head of the Kai tribe has turned around and slapped her in the face. She now has no influence within the Kai tribe and her daughter has lost her position as wife of Alisar Bey and she has lost her son. Both Aygul and Zohre are yet to find out that they have been wrong from the very beginning about Osman.
After being shot with an arrow at his ambush, Balgay is injured and lying on the forest floor. Kongar has saved his life. Cerkutay looks to his wounds. Osman tells his old enemy that he has killed Boke as he betrayed both of them. He also tells Balgay that he will be there to help him fight Geyhatu when the time comes but when the battle is over their agreement stops. Balgay reminds Osman of his debt to him and his promise. Osman tells him that he has not forgotten his promise. He makes sure Balgay knows that if he returns to Sogut after Geyhatu has been taken care of then he will kill him and his Nokers.
Osman has a rendezvous with Kongar who warns Osman that Balgay is planning on killing Geyhatu and Osman in the same battle. So far Balgay has not found out that Kongar is a spy for Osman. If he does Balgay will show no mercy. Osman has known for some time that Balgay is not to be trusted.
Back at the Kai nomad Bamsi Bey watches over Burcu as she fights for her life. He pours his heart out over the sadness he feels that she has grown to hate him and even tried to kill him. She was going to marry his son Aybars . He loves her as a daughter and knows she has been caught up in the lies of Zohre Hatun and Aygul and hopes she survives her ordeal.
At the Kai village the drums sound to alert the villagers that Osman has returned.
Osman brings with him three prisoners, Alisar Bey is tied with ropes and dragged through the village and forced on his knees. Dundar Bey and Bahadir are brought to their knees also in front of the whole tribe. The sound of the villagers cheers resound in their ears.
As a punishment for Dundar Bey, Osman orders him to go to his wife and daughter and tell them the truth about the death of Batur Bey. Osman believes that although he was tricked by Alisar Bey that he needs to face his daughter and his shame. Under guard he is escorted to his family. The decision as to whether he lives or dies will be left up to his father.
The shock of being told by her father that Alisar Bey killed her brother mentally and emotionally affects Aygul. She tries to kill herself because of her shame and has a complete mental breakdown.
Meanwhile, Alisar Bey’s fate lies at the hand of Osman.
Under the witness of the tribe, his brother Gunduz and his Alps, Osman prepares to remove Alisar’s head.
Alisar Bey tries to talk Osman out of killing him, telling him that after taking his head he will have to contend with Geyhatu. Osman has no fear of Geyhatu and his army. He raises his sword only to hear the village drums alerting him of approaching riders. He lowers his sword to see a group of mongols approaching.
The riders are an advance party of Geyhatu’s mongols led by Subutay of Noyan.
Subutay demands Osman let Alisar Bey go. He also demands the Kai tribe hand over Osman for execution by Geyhatu.
Osman tells Subutay that if Geyhatu wants his life then he will have to come and get it.
Osman’s answer to Geyhatu and a message that could not mistaken is to slice off the head of Alisar Bey in front of him. He then raises his sword to the sky and gives the glory to Allah with the words “God is most great”.
Subutay has no other choice than to mount his horse and ride out of the village.
Osman watches him ride out knowing that the biggest battle of all is yet to come.
