KURULUS OSMAN EPISODE 16 SUMMARY
We left Osman last week jubilant that he had outsmarted Balgay who had fallen into his trap.
Osman’s ambush is successful and many mongols are killed.
Dundar Bey arrives in the thick of the battle believing Osman had killed his son. The battle between Balgay and Osman is halted and Osman has to defend himself from an angry Dundar Bey seeking revenge. This interruption allows Balgay and Kongar time to escape. Samsa Bey who is after Cerkutay also did not have any luck in killing or capturing his prey. He also escapes.
The fight between Dundar Bey and Osman is savage and sadly it involves turk fighting turk. The mongols although devastated by Osman’s attack have not been completely dealt with yet.
Alisar Bey tries to kill Osman by shooting an arrow at him whilst he is fighting with Dundar Bey. Unfortunately he misses his target and hits Dundar Bey instead.
Back at the Kayi village Zohre desperately grieves for her son Batur Bey. She is filled with hate towards Selcan Hatun due to her closeness with Osman and swears that she will kill her. She leaves on horseback and takes her son’s sword with her as the tool of her revenge.
Zohre and her Alps eventually catch up with Selcan Hatun. Zohre tries to kill Selcan Hatun but Bala Hatun and her dervishes protect her. Osman doesn’t tell them that Dundar Bey is alive nor that he did not kill Batur Bey. He continues to let them believe that he is dead. What he does tell is that they deserved to die for their collaboration with the mongols. Osman has no other option than to have Zohre and Aygul taken to the “cage” to await punishment.
Abdurrahmen Gazi is given the mission to take Dundar Bey for medical treatment at the Dervish’s camp. He is dragged on a makeshift bed behind a horse on his way to the camp. With Dundar Bey bleeding profusely he stops to sterilise his wound. All the while Alisar Bey watches them from a distance.
Balgay , Kongar and Cerkutay are the only three mongols left, all the other Nokers have been killed. Balgay has an injury and takes delight in tasting his own blood! He swears that his war is now personal between Osman and himself and if Geyhatu wants to get in his way he will kill him also. A journey to Konya is planned to get more men but when he returns he promises he will take great delight in taking off their heads.
Osman is now free to return to his father’s nomad at the Kayi Village. It is good to feel at home again. He immediately brings back his father’s chair and personal items and places them where they used to be.
Bala also has returned with Osman. In last week’s episode we saw Bala Hatun tell Osman to look for another woman. Bala suffered a stomach wound which was serious and she is told that this may stop her falling pregnant. The atmosphere when they meet is not the same as it used to be and Osman cannot understand why her affection for him has changed but he feels within him that there is a reason for it all and she is not telling him what it is. After talking to Selcan Hatun and bearing his heart out to her, she goes in search of Gonca who is Bala’s best friend and asks her what the problem could be and why Bala has rejected Osman. She is shocked when Gonca tells her the situation.
Meanwhile Abdurrahman Gazi is caring for Dundar Bey. Dundar Bey awakes from his surgery after the arrow is removed from his back. Although he is told that Osman and the Alps did not kill Batur Bey he doesn’t believe it. He tells Abdurrahman that he had better kill him or when he heals he will kill them all and take his revenge.
The Kais Council vote for a leader of the people since Dundar Bey has now been removed as Sanjak Bey. Candidates are Gunduz and Osman both being sons of Ertugrul Gazi. The election will be undertaken in the traditional way. Although many hoped for Osman to be chosen the vote goes to Gunduz Bey with Osman’s blessing. Osman bows his knee and kisses the hand of his older brother with great satisfaction as to the choice.
Osman enters the tent where Batur Bey lies before his funeral. He understands that Batur Bey was really only obeying his father and mother. Osman swears to take his revenge and find who killed him. Batur Bey’s murder has no witnesses and Alisar Bey is not a suspect.
Gonca cannot stand to see her friend Bala Hatun heart broken. She tells Bala that if she doesn’t tell Osman the reason for her change of mind then she will do it for her. Neither are aware that at that very moment Selcan Hatun is telling Osman of Bala’s sad circumstance.
Osman is relieved to hear that the reason for Bala’s change of mind . I was not because she didn’t love him. It was because she loves him so much that she is sacrificing her love for him for him.
Sofia (who has been captured by Osman) has been blindfolded and tied with a rope. She is being dragged along a dirt path by a Dervish guard when she is rescued by Salvador and taken back to Kuluchaiser Castle. This has all been part of Osman’s plan.
Abdurrahman Gazi continues his journey toward the Dervish camp with the injured Dundar Bey.
He is ambushed by Alisar Bey’s Alps. Dundar Bey watches Alisar Bey approach Abdurrahman Gazi and give the order for him to be executed on the spot.
Meanwhile back at Osman’s nomad, Bala Hatun meets with Osman who tells her that there is no other woman in his heart but her. He asks her to just be with him and leave having a child in God’s hands.
He declares his deep love for her and tells her she is his happiness and her wound will not keep them apart. He goes on to tell her that if God does not bless them with children then he will accept this in his life but a life without her is no life at all. She gladly accepts him.
Osman receives a visit from a messenger calling him to a meeting of Turkish elders.
Sofia returns to her father safely with Salvador’s help. Master Yannis tells Sofia that Salvador is a spy for Osman. They decide not to do anything about this at the present time and carry on as usual, but they will use him to help them kill Osman.
Now that the Kayi village has settled back down to normal, Osman asks Gunduz if he will release him to go after Balgay. Osman knows that if he doesn’t catch Balgay before he gets to Konya the tribe will be in trouble when he returns. Osman will hunt him all the way to Konya if necessary but in the end he has to kill him.
Before Osman leaves the nomad he asks Gunduz to watch out for Salvador and to keep an eye on the Kuluchaiser Castle. He promises that the time will come when a Kai flag will fly on the castle wall. He has no idea that Abdurrahman Gazi and his Alps are dead nor that Dundar Bey has been taken to Alisar Bey’s mansion.
The evil Alisar Bey has been given the title of Sanjak Bey by Geyhatu in Konya. He prepares to visit the Kais to make them aware that he carries the title from now on. He has placed Dundar Bey in his mansion to be cared for. Dundar Bey is told that Osman attacked him and has told everyone in the Kayi Village that he is dead, even his wife and daughter who are caged in the village jail.
Osman visits Bala before he leaves to hunt Balgay. He looks deep into her eyes and gives his farewell. Bala makes sure he knows that her prayers and love are waiting for him on his return.
Prince Salvador is made Commander of Kuluchaiser Castle and Alisar Bey arrives at Kuluchaiser Castle to see Sofia and tells her that the leader of the mongols has made him Sanjak Bey.
If you can cast your mind back to last week’s episode, Osman gave Master Yannis the Genghis Khan’s laws as an assurance that if Yannis would help him trap Balgay then he would give him Sofia in return. Alisar Bey has now made a deal with Geyhatu. In exchange for the Genghis Khan laws he will give him Osman’s death as a reward.
Selcan Hatun visits Zohre and her daughter in the cage and tells them that they are lucky to be alive. The penalty for betrayal in the Kayi tribe is death. She asks them both to leave the tribe and find shelter in the mongol camp and to be thankful for Gunduz Bey’s mercy. Zohre as usual has a big mouth and slanders Selcan Hatun. In return Selcan Hatun finally has her revenge and slaps her for betraying her people and for all the trouble she has caused to her family and Osman.
After a long ride Osman arrives at a secret camp set up by the Turkish elders who supported his father . They welcome him happily and have been waiting for him.
Osman is told by the elders that his journey now becomes harder. He is asked to listen carefully to what they have to say.
He is told that Geyhatu has made Alisar Bey the Sanjak Bey and that Geyhatu has a bad relationship with Balgay because of the Genghis Khan laws. They tell Osman that they want to give him an even harder task and that is to rescue Princess Adelpha who lives in Constantinople and who is to be married to Geyhatu. This means a mongol and turk alliance which is good for the mongols but devastating for the Turks.
He is ordered to stop the marriage as Princess Adelpha does not have consent for the marriage and she needs to be taken out of the hands of Geyhatu. Osman is given the route the Princess will be taking and they charge Osman with the responsibility of the mission.
Osman now has two missions to focus on. One to catch Balgay and kill him and the other is to stop Princess Adelpha marrying Geyhatu.
Join me to see if Osman is successful in his continual fight with the mongols.
