HOMEMADE TURKISH LOKMA RECIPE.

Dough:
1 cup lukewarm water
2 cups flour
1 tbsp instant yeast
1 egg
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup sunflower oil, for frying
half cup extra oil, to dip hands when dropping dough balls into hot oil

Syrup:
2 cups of sugar
2 cups of water
1 tbsp lemon juice

Method:

-Start with making the syrup.

-Mix sugar and water in a pot and boil.
-Boil for about 10 minutes
-Add lemon juice and boil for a further 10 minutes.Let it cool down

 

-Mixing the dough

-Sift flour in a large bowl.

-Pour yeast mixture in it and mix with hands

-Add egg and salt and mix. You will get a sticky dough.


-Cover the bowl and wait about half an hour
-Heat oil in a deep pot until boiling point.
-Take some dough in your hand and roll it into small balls. Dip your hands in olive oil if too stIcky.
-Drop the ball of dough into boiling oil.

-Fry it until golden for about a minute

-Transfer fried dough balls into syrup and leave it for 20 seconds.

Ready to eat !!
